Material of Heat sink
Most of the materials used in heat sinks are aluminum and copper. Aluminum is relatively inexpensive, while lighter in weight and has excellent thermal conductivity, making it a good material to use for heat sinks. Most of the radiators are made using aluminum processing.
Aluminum
Aluminum is a silvery-white light metal with ductility. Melting point 660℃, boiling point 2327℃, relative density 2.70. Aluminum is a good conductor of heat, its thermal conductivity is three times greater than iron, industry often uses aluminum to make radiators, while the smaller relative density makes the processed heat sink lighter in mass.
Copper
Copper is a raw material for heat sinks other than aluminum. Copper has better thermal conductivity than aluminum, so we usually change the heat sink material to copper when the aluminum heat sink cannot meet the customer’s demand. However, the density of copper is greater than aluminum, so the quality of copper radiators will be greater, while the price of copper radiators will be higher.
